Mountain Fires
On the summer solstice, the valley basin surrounding Ehrwald, Lermoos, and Biberwier transforms into a truly special natural spectacle: More than 10,000 mountain fires illuminate the mountains surrounding the Zugspitze, conjuring up artistic motifs such as roses, deer, and ibex on the slopes.
The traditional mountain fires are among Austria’s most spectacular cultural events and were designated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2010.
The 2027 Mountain Fires are scheduled for Saturday, June 19, 2027, starting at 10:00 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the event will take place on June 26, 2027.
