For four generations, we – the Spielmann family – have dedicated ourselves to the happiness of our guests. Deeply rooted in the history and traditions of our region, we have created a place to relax with all modern conveniences. A place, where you can feel our passion for detail in every corner. A house, where you can feel good, relax and experience. Where traditions – inside and outside –are preserved and interwoven with the modern to create moments of pure happiness.

… there was Christian Spielmann Snr., the great-grandfather of Christina, originating from one of the oldest families in Ehrwald. He, an international skiing pioneer, and his wife Josefine recognised the possibilities this beautiful spot at the foot of the Zugspitze mountain had to offer. So, the foundation for today’s Romantik Hotel was laid in 1924. In 1926 the house was completed. Difficult years, due to World War II, followed. But undeterred, and with a lot of courage and diligence the Spielmanns dedicated themselves to the guest house. That is how Christian and Josefine became pioneers in the hospitality sector in the region.
In the late 1950s the grandparents of today’s hostess Christina took over the reins of the hotel in Ehrwald. The charming little guest house was expanded room by room. It grew and developend into an real four-star hotel at the foot of the Zugspitze, catering to guests’ well-being as the only Romantik Hotel in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. You can see its charm, and feel it. You can sense the love of detail in every corner. Feel the cosy atmosphere. Antiques that tell stories as witnesses of days gone by, are stylishly combined with modern elements.
Christian Spielmann, grandchild of the hotel’s founder, followed the way of his ancestors together with his wife Margreth, keeping up traditions. As a passionate nature lover, it was only a matter of course to bring the beauty of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena closer to his guests. He took the visitors on breathtaking hiking tours and inspiring winter adventures, told them funny anecdotes and exciting stories of the region, while Margreth was the heart of the house. Whenever a guest had questions, she was there to help. Furthermore, she lovingly arranged decorations and cared for the hotel garden.
In December 2017 the time had come to put the reins of the hotel into the hands of the next generation of Spielmanns. As Christina grew up in the house, love for traditions and enthusiasm for hospitality, come natural to her. So, in a way her path was probably already mapped out. That´s why Christina and Martin look at things with a fresh lightness, but always based on traditions, the connection to nature and their love for hospitality that has determined the work of the Spielman family for generations. You can see that in every little detail and feel it in every little moment you are here.
